Gator Chassis
First thing we learned, "it's not dirt". So, a few cuts to the front half and we lost weight, shortened the wheelbase and moved the engine / and driver for better numbers. Ran the front end dimensions thru the FEGA program and will make some corrections.
We knew the rear was junk, but the season is over and the right one is going in. Lighter, multifunction bars will be stronger and easier to adjust. Lost 9 inches off the rear section, just right for some illegal parking! Out with the pan hard bar and in with the watts link. Initial scale numbers show the car 400 lbs lighter!
Made some time to get on the F8 car. Reassembly is going smoothly as can be expected for all the changes we made. Still needing some fabrication as it goes together. Nothing like a new car, bolt / holes all fit with the right size holes, etc. I removed the backup ignition system for this season; dont see a need for it now and it simplifies any troubleshooting. Am excited to run the car with the new alignment numbers. It was'nt off much by the program, but we should feel it.
6/7/09 Update!!
The car is a few days away from test driving, then we'll start the body. Keith is going to Okie for at least a month. May try a test session at Willow Springs while he is gone. We'll race the car when he gets back. I'll get more pics up next week.
My buddy Perry emailed me WTF? and I loaded the pics to the computer , proof I am alive. I want to be racing as bad as anyone, BUT its called life. As you can tell by the date not much has happened. Since the pic was taken I have started assembling. Keith's plans are to try OKIE again for work and maybe mid summer run the F8 car. I'm anxious to finish the car and test. I feel the improvements are going to give us great results.
BTW     that's Jessie and she was just as suprised to see me out back!
We all can't wait!  Brads ready.
